What to expect on arrival

Cartakeback aims to provide you with a first class service when you dispose of your end of life vehicle at one of our nationwide Authorised Treatment Facilities in accordance with our customer charter.

On Arrival

When you arrive at the ATF you should park your vehicle safely in the designated area before reporting to the main reception.

Vehicle Assessment

The Cartakeback.com technician will assess your vehicle to determine whether or not it qualifies for free take-back.  To see if your vehicle qualifies for free take-back click here

Certificate of Destruction (CoD)

To help us de-register your vehicle you should bring with you your V5C registration document (logbook) which you should hand over to us as you will no longer need it.   You do not need to contact DVLA as we will do this for you using our electronic link to the DVLA vehicle registration database.  Our ATF will then issue you with an official DVLA Certificate of Destruction (CoD).  If you do not have your V5C, don’t worry, we may still be able to issue you with a CoD.

You should retain your CoD as proof that your vehicle has been disposed of correctly.  If you do not obtain a CoD you could face considerable fines under new continuous licensing laws.

In some circumstances it may not be possible to issue a CoD, we will notify you of what you need to do if this happens.

Your vehicle will then be de-polluted in line with the latest environmental legislation.  For more information about the de-pollution process click here.
